Law of Associations No. 1909/2009: Celebration, Assessment and Future Recommendations

Under the patronage of HE Speaker of the House Mr. Nabih Berri, a seminar will be held celebrating the centennial anniversary of the Law of Associations by the Council of Deputies, the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities and the “Association For Defense of Rights and Freedoms” (ADDL)  in the Parliament Hall on Friday, January 4 2009.

During the seminar, the regulation process of associations will be addressed in terms of history, present and future both at the levels of texts and practice, with a particular emphasis on the Associations Law of 1909, as amended. The seminar will also identify the strengths and weaknesses encountered in achieving the principle of freedom of association and will make proposals aiming at protecting this freedom and developing the process of regulating associations.
