The ministry of Justice in the Lebanese Republic and the Program of Governance in the Arab Region subordinate to the Arab Regional Office of UNDP organized a regional conference on “Good Judiciary and Criminal Justice”, in Beirut (Lebanon) on the 29th and 30th of November 2008, and in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Lebanon. The Arab Center for the Development of the Rule of Law and Integrity participated through his experts in a session about Modernizing criminal laws as an entry point to strengthening justice systems in light of human rights’ norms and standards; during which a study was presented about the status of penal laws in Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Yemen and Jordan.
